NPVMC provides the most up to date medical campus in Southeastern Wyoming. In addition to a 24-hour emergency room, NPVMC will offer advanced imaging including ultrasound, X-Ray, digital mammography, CT, Dexa Scan, and mobile MRI capabilities. The CAH features an inpatient pharmacy, laboratory services, and physical/occupational therapy. Staffed with both full time physician and mid-level providers, the hospital will provide a healthcare solution that services the community and offers convenience to medical services.

The Clinic Medical Assistant (MA) provides patient ambulatory care in the medical office/clinic setting. The MA provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care and meets the communication needs of patient and family. The MA provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician. The Medical Assistant maintains regulatory requirements, nursing and practice policies, procedures and standards. You will be responsible for communicating with physicians and team members about patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies .The Medical Assistant may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care under the supervision of an RN/LPN/LVN and/or physician, evaluates outcomes, consults with other health team members as required.
  • Ability to assist nursing and medical staff with routine examinations and patient treatments. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
  • Notifies appropriate licensed staff when patient complains of pain.
  • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served.
  • Ability to position and prep patients for office procedures.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to co-workers, physicians and Clinic Manager.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of an RN/LPN/LVN and/or physician.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
  • Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in patient education.
  • Maintains infection prevention and control standards for exam/procedure rooms; cleans, disinfects, changes linen, etc.
  • Maintains medical practice instruments; knowledgeable of sterilization techniques and biological indicators for sterilization.
  • Meets current documentation standards and policies.
  • Maintains established practice policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection prevention and control standards.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all staff members of the hospital.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the medical assistant's scope of practice.
  • Essential functions are carried out in a variety of positions including standing and sitting. To meet patients’ needs, virtually all positions require the ability to move freely through the building. Stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying as well as other physical demands may be required as described in the Essential Physical Demands of this position.

Full Time Monday through Friday (Clinic Hours 8-5)

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program preferred.
  • Work Experience Six months of similar previous clinic experience, preferred.
  • Certifications/License: Certified Medical Assistant through the American Assoc. of Medical Assistants (AAMA), preferred. Completion of venipuncture class, preferred. Current BCLS certification.
